The line was moved 800 miles further west with the signing of the Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 a year later.

The Line of Demarcation was a border line set up. The new world had been discovered and every country,mainly Portugel and Spain, were fighting over who could claim what. The Line of Demarcation Sid Spain can conquer anything to this side and Portugal can conquer to the other side.
