During the Revolutionary War, men were militias formed to work with the Continental Army. They were some of the first to fight in the Revolutionary War. The British soldiers were on the opposite side of the Minutemen, and fought against the colonists getting their liberty

if you are talking about the Revolutionary war then the British wore bright red uniforms, were better trained than the americans, used a band when they fought like drummerboys and Flute players, used a box formation in which there would be rows and columns of about 10 and they would move up in line and fire, run to the back of the line and reload on the way up.

Training, men and equipment however in the revolution the AMericans also had the french, spanish and dutch armies on there side plus they had the advantage of home turf whereas british had to ship troops and supplies overseas and the British were also fighting the mughal empire in India
