he died in 1861 (age 42)

Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, was born in what is now Bavaria, in Germany on 26th August 1819. He was the husband of Queen Victoria of Great Britain. He died on 14th December 1861, from Typhoid Fever which he probably contracted from a faulty drain. Victoria was extremely shocked at the death of her beloved husband, she wore black for the rest of her reigh and never, ever got over it!

Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1819-1861), the husband of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, died at 22:50 on the 14th of December, 1861 of what was believed to be typhoid fever in Windsor Castle. Recent evidence however suggests that he died of Crohn's disease, renal failure, or cancer.
