The Romans invented concrete and because they did they were able to build things like the colosseum. Add arches and domes to their buildings along with the concrete and they were able to create many buildings that are still around.

ancient Rome invented concrete and with it they built the buildings like the colosseum and other things. The Roman concerte was water proof so they were able to build in rivers and put in shipping ports with it. The concrete along with the arch made history with the Roman building methods.

The Romans were the first. The recipe was lost in the Middle Ages. In 1756 or so it was rediscovered.
