The discovery of a sea route to India no doubt had the largest impact on Europe at this time.

Since all spice and silk had to come by land from the east and trough Turkey, the Ottomans would double the prices of goods before re-selling them to European merchants.

So when the Portugeese established a trade route to India and started hauling huge amounts of spices back to Europe, suddenly these goods became much more available to people, and they didn't have to buy it from the Ottomans by insane prices.

Also the money that Portugal obtained trough spice trade was later used to sail greater distances with new ships and discover new lands, so in a way spice trade helped in research of naval technologies.

Because disease ravaged the Americas what were Europeans able to do in the late 1400s and early 1500s?

In the late 1400s and early 1500s, European explorers and colonizers were able to expand their territories in the Americas largely due to the devastating impact of diseases such as smallpox and measles, which decimated Indigenous populations. This demographic collapse weakened Indigenous resistance, allowing Europeans to establish settlements and exploit resources with relative ease. The resulting power imbalance facilitated the rapid colonization and exploitation of vast areas of the Americas.

What were the three main reasons explorers made ocean voyages in the late 1400s and the early 1500s?

Explorers in the late 1400s and early 1500s primarily sought new trade routes to access valuable spices and goods from Asia, which were in high demand in Europe. They were also driven by the desire for territorial expansion and the establishment of colonies, fueled by national competition among emerging European powers. Additionally, the quest for knowledge and the spirit of adventure motivated many to explore uncharted territories and discover new lands.
