Hua Mulan is the name of a legendary character from Ancient China that appears in a poem called the 'Ballad of Mulan', which tells the story of a woman who fought in the army taking the place of her father, who was too old to go and take arms himself. She impersonated a man and fought for twelve years, gaining very high merits, but refusing to accept any rewards at the end, she came back to her hometown.
