I think you mean Nostradamus, who is a man who lived during the plague years in

Europe. He practiced medicine although it is unknown if he was a legitimate doctor, and stressed cleanliness as a major help in plague infested areas. Later in his life he wrote quatraints which were very vague but appeared to predict the future. There is an excellent article about him on this site so there is no sense in my going further.
