it all started by a murder that happend long ago, called the peat bog murder. The victim was so well preserved that they decided that would be just one of the many ways to create/prepare for the afterlife

It was Osiris. He was murdered by seth his brother. He was put back together by Isis but Anubis did the embalming. Therefore it makes him the first Pharaoh. Even though he is a god in their beliefs he was the first to be mummified
