When European countries were imperialistic, they made money by trading industry and capital with their colonies for raw goods. In Asia, there was a huge amount of people, and a huge amount of resources, especially with climates eprfect for agriculture and money plants. People wanted China because it had millions of people who it could sell to make money from unsold exports. That was basically the entire reason why Asia was so important, to make money and get resources.
