In the United States, there are factions. Although they are not typically called faction but instead are called special interest groups.

What are some modern day factions?

Modern day factions are everywhere in the present. Factions and their ideals run today's society, especially secret societies, powerful factions that can manipulate everything in world affairs. These secret societies are the mostly known as the Freemasons, the Trialateral Commision, and the most notoriuos, Bilderburg. Now back to the main subject: the following are some of major modern factions currently existing. (The UN, the WTO, the NSA, DOD, CIA, al-Queda, Hezzbolah, etc.)

What are some examples of factions today?

Oil Companies- give money to politicians and told them not to give to the government because they want to make money.

What form of government offers the BEST solution to control factions?

Democracy, then factions are no longer a concern since theoretically the biggest one will always be the Government.

What did George Washington warn the political parties could cause?

To paraphrase him he said that political parties would take over and the interests of the people would be forgotten. If you look at our politics today I think he has been proven right. The dominance of the political parties has replaced the concern for the " common good". He also warned about professional politicians. This is another thing that has developed that he was right about. We have people who are in office for 20+ years and who seem to have lost touch with the people who elect them. He felt a man should do his civic duty and go home.

Why do factions hurt government?

They are divisive and create disunity.
