One of the major events that encouraged legislators to re-evaluate the Articles of Confederation in the mid-1780s was a rebellion due by poor farmers who were led by Daniel Shays. The Philadelphia Convention in 1787 eventually led to the adoption & ratification of the United States Constitution later that year, which replaced the AoC. Of course, that's where your Bill of Rights and countless amendments are originated from.
