Akhenaten was believed to be related to King Tut. He was thought to live during the 18th dynasty which was roughly 35,000 years age. He was married to Nefertiti and lived in Thebes with the rest of his family (his six children). Thebes was the city of the God Amun.
Later known as Akhenaten and the "heretic pharaoh", Amenhotep IV 's life began in 1352 BC when Queen Tiye gave birth to the soon to be pharaoh. He was raised as the son of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye and had a brother, Thutmose V, whom the role of pharaoh would no doubt have fallen to if the child had not died at an early age. Akhenaten became pharaoh at the early age of 18. When he first exceeded the throne, in 1334 BC, his name was Amenhotep IV but he later changed it to Akhenaten in his 5th regnal year. He then began building his own city in Middle Egypt, Akhetaten meaning, "horizon of the sun". The site of Akhetaten, which is now called Amarna, is an arid place surrounded by cliffs. He made it quite clear that he specifically wanted that spot, under the rock faces, in the centre of Egypt, and would not settle on another. Akhenaten and Nefertiti were married at the very beginning of his reign and the pair had 6 known daughters. Nefertiti (who was probably a distant relative) was of course his most famous wife who was also known as "great loyal wife" early in his years as pharaoh. Akhenaten's life came to an end in 1336 BC.
How long it took to carve or when it was finished etc is unknown. However it is generally accepted that the Sphinx was built by Pharaoh Khafre - c2575 to c2465 BC - during the Old Kingdom, the age of the great pyramid builders. Although the date of its construction is uncertain, the head of the Great Sphinx now is believed to be that of the pharaoh Khafra. There is possible evidence that the monument may be older than this for an inscription within the Great Pyramid, dating from 600 BC, records that Pharaoh Khufu-Khafre's father-carried out repairs on the Sphinx's tail and headdress. It means: He Who Lives In The Great House or something like that!
He began at age 9. He died mysteriously at 19, so he reigned for about 10 years.
