A woman in England committed suicide by jumping onto a race-track while the Horses were running full-out- she did not die on the spot but lived for a brief time- still it was a suicide. I do not recall her name. A horrible way to attract attention to a cause- this was before the days of TV live news!

Emily Davison certainly did. She threw herself under the horses in the Derby horserace in England in 1913, I think it was, campaigning for 'Votes for Women'.
