One shilling is equivalent to 5p (five pence) in decimal currency.

Before decimalisation the currency was in pounds, shillings and pence. There were twelve pennies to a shilling and twenty shillings in a pound. On "Decimal Day" (15 February 1971) pennies and shillings were replaced by the new currency with 100 new pennies in a pound.
