Although he was a traitor he was also responsible for getting the rebel forces (the United States) the heavy artillery that we needed to win the war. So you may see him as a traitor but he also did something that was directly responsible for the rebellion to have any type of a chance against the British forces.

Yes. I believe he was a traitor because he left the Patriot Army, sailed down the Hudson River, and joined the British forces.
