I think that teenagers could vote because they are older and more experienced. I don't think that kids under the age of 13 should vote because they are too young, inexperienced, half the time they don't know what's going on, it's boring, and sometimes they have better things to do.

-------------------

Yes, I think that if you are 13, maybe even younger, if you know what's going on in the country you should be aloud to vote. Is this a free country? Why are children treated like slaves sometimes? Why can't they vote if they want to? "ALL men are created equal", and we have "unalienable Rights" and "whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO ALTER OR TO ABOLISH IT" This government has never let children vote, it is our right to alter that. We have the rights, "and among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." I won't be happy until I can vote before I turn 18. Are children under 18 citizens of the USA? Yes, if the go out and buy something they'll have to pay sales tax. So why can't we vote?

In some ways yes and some ways.....no. Some kids are mature enough and could possibly have an important opinion. Some are very ameature and do not take voting seriously. Hopefully that helps!

AnswerNo. Children have neither the education nor the experience to understand the repercussions of political decisions. They are unlikely to form their own opinions.

Not all laws and regulations apply to children (drafts, taxation, severity of punishment); the voting age was set at 18 in order to give those directly affected by politics the right to vote.

Kids aren't able to vote because we are to young and responsible.

Kids under 18 should be able to vote because then the younger kids my age (11) feel left out and think it is not fair when people come to our school to vote.

There are may different sides to this argument. Of course, kids say that they should for many different creative reasons. Adults on the other hand, do no think they should.

Yes I do think children should be aloud to vote. It is not fair that we are not treated equally. Why should us children not vote? Is it because 'olders' think we are not capable of giving a dignified opinion? If we are mature enough, we should be aloud to vote, sometimes a child's opinion can be vital! Not that I'm calling Mr. Cameron an idiot or stupid, but we could end up with a ludicrous person being in control of our laws or ways of life, or how we pay things. So I do think kids should vote, and I am not feeling at all bias.

No, not until the age of 18.

Added: Since no country or nation is mentioned in the question, the general answer is that they will have the right to vote when the reach the age of majority for that country.

We the undersigned believe that: a) the political system of the United States of America is most responsive to those members of society who have political and economic power; b) the most basic form that political power takes is the right to vote; c) children under 18 years old in the United States have very little power, due in part to their legal inability to vote; and d) because of the entrenched lack of political responsiveness to the needs of children in this country, American children are at increased risk for low birth weight, poverty, and sub-standard health, educational, and other social services.

It is worth noting that the non-partisan international body UNICEF has ranked the United States 32nd out of 33 industrialized nations in an index of child well-being.

We believe that this systematic disregard for the needs of children is particularly unjust because, by virtue of their youth, children have the greatest likelihood of inheriting the debts of today's adults; of being called upon to risk life and limb in conflicts being planned and pursued by elected officials unaccountable to them; and of suffering the deleterious effects of poor energy and environmental policy, also formulated by elected officials unaccountable to them. In short, we believe that children constitute a forgotten, ignored, and largely invisible constituency in the United States.

Therefore, we urge the prompt passage of legislation granting the right to vote to children beginning at the age of 12, and the consideration of a proxy voting rights method applicable to children from birth through 11 years of age.

Children are the future. We the undersigned urge Congress to begin treating that future with care.
