In the time of the revolution brides followed the customs of their culture and family. Brides didn't wear white until the 1860's and Queen Victoria set the style for white . Dresses were often recycled for the weddings of the 1770's and used by brides within the family. Wedding bouquets were not used until the 1860's. Weddings were a civil contract in the 1700's and not religious.
