One of the many jobs the president has is the Head of State. He/She acts as a symbol for the United States and represents America on special occasions. For example, it is considered an honor to shake the president's hand. Also, he may hand out special awards to kids who win college scholarships or he may congradulate astronauts on their trip to space.

He sets the tone for US foreign policy and has a considerable amount of foreign aid funds at his discretion to give out.
