Thomas Jefferson drafted a document around June 26, 1776. Then, on July 4, 1776, America's First Continental Congress met in Independence Hall in Philiadelphia, in the British colony of Pennsylvania. The thirteen colonies' most affluent and influential men were there, and they signed a document now referenced as the Declaration of Independence.

The people of the colonies in America were upset because of ridiculously high taxes to fund the Royal Crown. However, what most people don't realize is that the British were putting in 6 times the amount of money more than what they got back in revenue.
