The Battle of Trenton was a major turning point in the Revolutionary War. On December 26th, 1776 General George Washington led his troops across the Delaware River to a territory north of Trenton New Jersey. It was here that the American Army captured all of the Hessian forces within a short span of time. Despite the bitter cold conditions the moral of the Continental Army was boosted and the colonists began to believe that they could manage standing on their own against the British.

There are good quotes from the Battle of Trenton. One is Washington's statement, it must be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself.
