The United Nations was born from its failed predecessor the League of Nations, and was the result of the Second World War. The founding members were generally motivated by the desire to avoid a destructive conflict such as this in the future. I support the United Nations, I think its an important diplomatic institution aimed at fostering global cooperation. But in reality power is often monopolized easpecially by the veto powers of the permanent seats on the Security Council, and you have to remember this body has no real power. You can ratify UN intiatives, but there is no real way to enforce them. I mean the UN peacekeeping missions is very important and has its merits without a doubt.
