The Equal Pay Act of 1963 was a law amending the Fair Labor Standards Act. It was signed into law on June 10, 1963 by John F. Kennedy as part of his New Frontier Program.

The object of the bill was to force employers not to discriminate against female employees by paying them less than their male employees.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that since the passage of the law, women's salaries have drastically increased over the years.

Since the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, women who are performing the same job as their male colleagues, have been given the right to file a discrimination complaint in order to rectify wage disparity. Although unequal pay exists to this day, the EPA at least provides a remedy to women who are paid less than me despite doing the same job.
