Cornwallis lead British troops during the Revolution and was the one to surrender in October 19, 1781. Cornwallis won the victory at dorchester heights, and wanted washington to surrender, but washington did not. His army was tired after nathaniel green's army chased his army to yorktown, Virginia.

General Cornwallis played an important role in the revolutionary war! He was the leader for the British army in North America. He was very confident that these rag tag colonist would not stand a chance against the mighty British army! In the end the British were trapped between American forces on land and the French fleet off the coast! He was so embarrassed that he sent a subordinate of lower rank to except defeat!

He was a British General, and was the leader for the British army during the Battle of Yorktown. The Battle Of Yorktown was the last major battle before the end of the war. Lord Cornwallis is known for 'losing America', because some predict that if he would have won the Battle Of Yorktown, then the British would have won the Revolution.
