During the revolution, the Declaration of Independence served solely as a motivational document for the revolutionaries. King George III dismissed it, and it carried no political clout. The signitaries did risk their lives by signing it, and therefore the Declaration lifted moral, or at least the incentive to overthrow British rule.

It was a line drawn in the sand.

The declaration of independence was used by almost every European country as a reference point for their own constitutions. Also it even sparked countries like France to revolt against their monarch system of government and create democracies like the US.

Well the Declaration of Independence didnt have such an impact as the Constitution. The Declaration did not grant America Independence from Britain, rather it declared that we WANTED to be free from England. Yet the Declaration did trigger a major dominoe affect in the American Revolution as it was the basis on which all American principles and ideas were based on. So really it impacted us, because without that so many events in history would not have happened.
