Indentured servants were servants who worked for a certain amount of years(usually 7) then were left to be free(or released). Usually they were African Americans traded for other products in Africa- in the triangular trade route.

Indentured servants were essentially slaves that were only obligated to spend a certain amount of time with their master. Once freed, they could go about as they pleased, but some chose to stay.

technically no an indentured servant is not a slave they would be the people in the 1800's who wanted to come from Great Britain or Another Country to developing United States they did not have enough money for this so they made an agreement with someone to work on their farm until the cost of their trip was payed off though this usually took them years to accomplish
