The first battle was fought at Lexington, where the so called 'shot heard around the world' was fired by an unknown gunman, beginning the first battle of the war. The British won this battle and marched on to Concord, where they were defeated and forced to retreat to Boston. On the way, they had to go back through Lexington, where the Revolvers were waiting to take revenge, causing another defeat for the British army.
lexington and concord was when paul rever set out to get more soldiers in the militia for the Americans. The british thought that the American colonists were storing ammunition and war supplies in concord so they went to lexington to try to stop the Americans and they killed a few colonists but no one knows who fired the first shot. Then, the british won and went to concord but American colonists militia was waiting there because they heard rever's and William dawes alarms. the American won
These battles showed that the colonists, although not using the traditional fighting techniques, had a chance against Britain. It highlighted Britain's weaknesses, such as their outdated ways of fighting and their lack of knowledge of the land. It also showed that Britain had terribly underestimated the power of the colonists.
