Similarly, Bill Clinton started like as William Blythe and changed his name to Clinton when he was adopted by his mother's second husband, Roger Clinton.

Rumor has it that Gerald R. Ford Jr. was adopted, but this is not true. Ford was born Leslie Lynch King to Leslie Lynch King Sr. and Dororthy Aver (Gardner) King. Dorothy left Leslie Sr. sixteen days after Jr. was born due to threats of violence and death by Leslie Sr. She moved first to Oak Park, Illinois, then to East Grand Rapids, Michigan where her parents lived. There she met Gerald Rudolf Ford. She divorced Leslie King Sr. in 1913, and married Ford three years later on 1 February 1916. They began calling Leslie Jr. Gerald. President Ford was never legally adopted by Gerald Ford Sr., but he did have his name legally changed to Gerald Rudolf Ford, Jr. on 3 December 1935.

Three recent US Presidents had adoptive parents, at least unofficially, after separation or loss of a parent. None to date have had foster parents outside their families.

  • Gerald Ford (38th President) was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr. but raised by his stepfather, Gerald Rudolff Ford, from the age of 2.
  • Bill Clinton (42nd President) was born William Jefferson Blythe, but his father died before his birth and his mother remarried, to Roger Clinton Sr., in 1950.
  • Barack Obama (44th President) is the son of Barack Obama Sr., from whom his mother was divorced when he was 2. His stepfather was Lolo Soetoro of Indonesia.

Why couldn't Boris Strukov be the president of the US?

The president must be born in US territory. Boris Stukov, the distinguished scientist who lives in Moscow, was born in Russia, I think.Boris Strokov was not born in the United states and was not a citizen when the Constitution was adopted. This is a requirement for anyone who is elected for President of the United states. The reason that Boris Strukov cannot be President of the United States is because he is not a natural born citizen on the United States. In order to be President of the United states, you must be a natural born citizen or have become a citizen prior to the adoption of the Constitution.
