Integrated education began in 1948 with Arkansas' state university and the University of Oklahoma law school under the presidency of Harry S Truman. Desegregation was not complete until the 1970s with the help of individuals such as Thurgood Marshall, Earl Warren, President John F. Kennedy and many others.
