The shortest-serving President was William Henry Harrison. He fell ill immediately following his inauguration in 1841 and died of pneumonia a month later. He was only President for a month. The next shortest term was James A. Garfield, at about 6 months. He took office in March 1881, was shot in July, and died in September. In 3rd was Zachary Taylor. He came down with an infection of the stomach and/or intestines a little over a year into his term and died in July of 1850.

I'm not sure I understand your wording but if you are asking which president served the shortest term the answer would be William Henry Harrison. There is, however, a man who was 'technically' president for a day by some glitch but I can't remember who it was...
