King George gave them more/different taxes than the people residing in Britain, because he was in a bad mood that they left. He hurt businesses and made way too many taxes, on things like tea, paper, sugar, and much more, just because he could. Especially since the patriots didn't even want to be a part of Britain, they were enraged at these taxes. Would you want to be in this situation? I think not.

"people started runing out of money" but not only that! people didn't want to pay taxes to the king if the taxes didn't benefit them and they were tired of having to be taxed without representation in parliament.

They hated him because of the taxes he put on the colonists to pay for the war debt because of the Seven Years War.
