Egypt and Mesopotamia are/were flat lands with one or two bid rivers which were essential for making a living by farming. Greece is rather hilly. There are mountains, hills and valleys, and it is not a very hot (no deserts!) area. There isn't a main or big river there.

Greece had limited land in river valleys amongst high mountains and each city-state faced over-population problems leading to their sending the surplus to take new land around the Mediterranean and Black Sea littorals and establish their own city-state. The river valleys of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India and China had extensive alluvial plains which enabled prosperous agriculture.
