Egypt and Mesopotamia are/were flat lands with one or two bid rivers which were essential for making a living by farming. Greece is rather hilly. There are mountains, hills and valleys, and it is not a very hot (no deserts!) area. There isn't a main or big river there.

Ireek geography is defined by mountains with small rivers and seacoast, with pockets of arable land of generally poor quality. River valleys in Mesopotamia and Egypt had extensive flood plains replenished by the silt from annual flooding.

Greece had limited land in river valleys amongst high mountains and each city-state faced over-population problems leading to their sending the surplus to take new land around the Mediterranean and Black Sea littorals and establish their own city-state. The river valleys of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India and China had extensive alluvial plains which enabled prosperous agriculture.
