I think that there are some members of the First Nations who might dispute your assertion that there are no ancient North American civilizations, however, in the sense that a civilization requires cities by definition, you are correct. The ancient population of North America lived a hunter-gatherer type of lifestyle, and that does not work well with cities. They were happy with what they had, and saw no reason to change it.
