The is no letter "y" in the greek alphabet. the closest is "upsilon" which is often transcribed to a "u" in English eg greek "muthos" becomes "myth". the other similar looking letter is "gamma" which is pronounced like a "g" sound. Perhaos it is one of these you mean.
