The Abu Simbel Temples were built by Ramses II in 1274-1244. They were built as a monument to himself, his reign and his favorite wife Nefertiti. In the 1960's UNESCO relocated to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

The purpose of the Abu Simbel Temples is to worship the Pharaoh at the time which was Ramesses II. Also some people think it is because he had a battle between the Gods at this time so to say sorry for what he had done he built 2 temples. One was for the 3 Gods Ptah, Amun, Ra-Horakhty and the other one was for his favorite wife and daughter.
They were built cause Nur Pasha wanted to build them and Micheal Jakson cried wolf

NOthing, lol.
They are not the same height. The temple at Abu Simbel (the Egyptian "Temple of Ri'amsese-meryamun") shows four colossal seated statues of king Rameses II, each about 21 meters high. Each large statue of the king has tiny standing statues of his relatives by his legs, including queen Nefertari, queen Muttuya, prince Amenhirkhopshef and princess Bent'anta. Each of these is shorter than the king's lower leg. The link below shows a close-up of the statue of Nefertari, alongside the king's leg:
Recent archaeological investigations have shown that Stonehenge was built on the same site as a much earlier structure of earth and timber, dating to 5,000 years ago.The Temples at Abu Simbel date to early in the reign of Ramesses II, about 1280 BC or about 3,291 years ago.The site and use of Stonehenge is therefore much older, but its stone circles were not completed until about 3,800 years ago.
