bronze
I'm not sure but the soldiers were called hoplites. is that any help?

Ancient Greek armor was made out of bronze, and out of harder alloy than many of our modern bronze stuff are made from.So don't mistake it for golden looking modern items. Also it greatly depends on era of century BC you are talking about.
