Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of plants. When Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, she stopped taking care of plants and the plants died. This became winter. Persephone was later returned but she had eaten some seeds. So she lived half of the year with her mother and the plants flourished. The other half of the year, she had to go back to Hades and Demeter would again stop caring for the plants.
Demeter stopped giving the ground water and soil then Zeus arrange persephone's visits
In Greek mythology, Demeter (the nature goddess) had a daughter named Persephone (per-se-phony), one day Persephone was kidnapped by Hades (the lord of the dead) because he wanted her to marry him. She hated being in the underworld, meanwhile, Demeter was extremely depressed because her daughter was missing, she stopped doing her job, and the world fell into a long hard winter. in the underworld Hades though of a way to keep persephone there, he wanted her to eat the fruit of the dead (the pomogranate). She refused to eat it, eventually she was convinced to eat it, and she loved it, it was the best thing she had ever eaten, but there was a catch, for every seed she ate, Persephone had to stay in the underworld for a month, three of four months later she returned to her mother explaining why she was gone, and every year she returns to the underworld so she can eat a few more of the seeds, Demeter becomes depressed, and there is winter.
Hades bride was Persephone. She was kidnapped by him. Her mother Demeter ( Ceres ) stopped all growth of plants on Earth. Demeter wanted her daughter back. Zeus then sent Hermes ( Mercury ) to receive her. She got to the surface of Earth, but heard the laughter of the underworld gardener. She had eaten the seeds of a pomegranate, the food of the dead and had to stay in the underworld for 6 months each year. When she was on Earth plants grew ( Spring and Summer ). When Persephone wasn't on Earth plants scarcely grew ( Fall and Winter ). P.S. I'm only 11, so if you find mistakes please write a better answer. Thanks!
Nobody really knows. She was supposedly a beauty so mesmerising that people stopped worshipping Venus, who was also extremely good-looking.
