son of Sisyphus
From what I understand about arete...the concept of greatness in all things...the Trojan Glaucus and Diomedes of the Greeks are meant to exemplify heroism and humanity. When the two meet on the battlefield, Glaucus tells the story about how he descends from Bellerophon. When Diomedes realizes that his grandfather Oeneus hosted Bellerophon, their forefathers are friends of old. Diomedes and Glaucus must also be friends. (Another concept stemming from arete.) They exchange gifts and decide not to fight each other.
Bellerophon's father was Glaucus who was the king of Corinth and the son of Sisyphus.
His parents are Eurynome (mother) and Poseidon (father), but Bellerophon is raised by Eurynome's husband, Glaucus. Glaucus was cursed by Athena to never be able to father a child. Glaucus tended to feed his horses human flesh, which angered the gods. Eventually, he was thrown from his chariot and his horses ate him. His father, Sisyphus, also angered the gods- he betrayed Zeus and was punished by being made to roll a rock uphill for eternity.
Bellerophon's father was Poseidon, although he prior to that, he was thought to be the son of Glaucus, King of Corinth.
