The Artistβs Perspective ( APEX )
The answer to this varies based on the demand for the particular Artist's work. Most Artist's, regardless of the medium start their pricing low when they first start out, although thought must be given to the cost of supplies etc.
Copyright protection is automatic as soon as the work is fixed in a tangible medium. Formal registration is also available in some countries, and helps to authenticate a work.

The artist's intent
"Medium" or "media" is the material used to create a piece of artwork. Examples would be oil paint, graphite (pencil), Photoshop, mixed media (combinations of different medias), etc. A medium is related to art, because every piece of art is made out of something in order for it to be visual. An artist's use of a particular media could also say a lot about the artist or their work. For example, an artist may use photography as their medium of choice, because they are interested in capturing the beauties and horrors of life. A medium, in art, may also be a translucent liquid that thins out paint. See "matte medium."
artist chosen medium
The Artist at Work was created in 1957.

It depends, as 'medium' can mean different things. A person who claims to have psychic powers, or can speak with the dead, can be called a medium. The plural, a group of these people, would be mediums. A material that an artist uses can be called a medium, so you could say an artist uses chalk as his medium. The plural of this would be media.
