According to Wikipedia William Robinson, the Australian artist born 1936, is still alive. On the other hand, William Robinson, the British artist born 1777, is dead since 1848. The American painter William T Robinson, born in 1852, sadly left us in 1934.
Some people believe this is possible by the way light is shown to come from the left or from the right in a painting. My opinion is that it is possible for any painter to paint light from whichever direction he/she chooses, and that it is not possible to decide with any certainty which hand the painter uses.
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn [July 15, 1606-October 4, 1669] was a successful Dutch artist in 17th century Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. He was known for his etches, paintings, and prints. Subsequent generations have found particularly fascinating the artist's autobiographical record left in the way of self portraits in varied costumes and hats.

Gauche is the French for "left" - and in the olden days anyone left-handed was seen as strange, and slightly threatening. It is no coincidence that the Latin for left is sinister....Left-handed people have fought a long battle to be allowed to remain that way. It used to earn a beating when I was in school if you wrote with your left hand.
Paul Gauguin
yes he was
He invited Paul Gauguin to Arles. They tried to work together for a while, then gave up and Gauguin left.
Gauguin married Danish woman Mette Sophie Gad, in 1873, they had 5 children together and at the age of 35 he left her. Around 1891 Gauguin married 13 year old Tehamana, a native of Tahiti.
Paul Gauguin
He cut off part of his left ear.
Paul Gauguin was born in Paris, France. In 1851 the family left Paris for Peru,They lived for four years in Lima. At the age of seven, Gauguin and his family returned to France. They moved to Orléans, Where he was a good a student. He then spent some time in the merchant marine before becoming a stockbroker.
He went back inside and cut off part of his LEFT ear.
One night in December 1888 after months of disagreements Vincent, according to Gauguin, comes at him with a razor. Gauguin leaves and Vincent cuts of his left earlobe, wraps it in newspaper and offers it as a gift to Rachel, a local prostitute
It was mostly the earlobe, and though i thought it was to prove a point of passion to Paul Gauguin, or perhaps to the prostitute in the story, there now seem to be new theories that actually Gauguin sliced it off in an argument with his fencing sword, and that Vincent hushed up the truth to keep Gauguin out of trouble with the police, possibly in the hope he would stay and form the southern school. worth a google this one
He lived in Paris, in Copenhagen, in Tahiti and finally on one of the Marquesas Islands. Paul Gauguin lived in Papeete on the island of Tahiti in the Society Islands, and later in Atuona on the island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas, where he died. Both of these are in the country of French Polynesia.
