Basically, after the black death had struck over England, the number of habitants in this country was at a lower rate than before. The peasants no longer had to share so much of their land with others. They could grow more crops and therefrom more money. Their luck soon died out but before this happened, they thought that they were strong and brilliant because they had survived this. Their will power was stronger and they were now no longer afraid to stand up to those higher in the hierarchy than themselves.
Because they suffered greatly, their bubons swelling up in the groin and occasionally the armpits, they were MUCH better off, and death put them out of their misery. ;((((( At least they WERE put out of their misery!:))))))))) But, still, poor people.;(((((( Okay, I'm not going to argue with myself any longer.;) == Those who survived had greater access to the food left in fields and orchards by the ones who died. Many simply moved into better housing and took up working in the fields left behind. Less living people meant better living for the ones who were still there, plus when the manor lords died, the peasants were free to live a life without taxes and limits on their livelihood.
The population dropped dramatically during the black death. This lead to a shortage of labor. This shortage of labor lead to higher wages for work, and also a degree of social mobility as many small landholders died without heirs, meaning it was easier to acquire a landholding, or increase the size of one's landholdings.
The peasants who had survived the plague found their skills in high demand. Suddenly, they could demand wages for their labor. Once they had money, many fled their manors completely, moving instead to Europe's growth cities.

I believe peons, serfs and rubes are peasants. Peasants usually farm for food, some hunt, I believe. They are said to eat mostly cabbage and barley.
A serf was a peasant, but not all peasants were serfs.A peasant is usually a farmer. A peasant could be free or not, and though most were doubtless poor, we find references to well-to-do or prosperous peasants. Serfs are peasants legally bound to a lord's land, and were not allowed to move away. Serfs usually had to provide labor in exchange for a place to live and work.
