No country used a full feudalistic type of government today. Some countries like India, Pakistan, and parts of Africa, Scotland and England have been accused of operating under a Feudalistic or Semi Feudalistic type of government. The last state in Europe to be run under true Feudalism was the British controlled island of Sark, which implemented a Democracy in April of 2008.

Nearly all merchants lived in towns or cities. Villages did not have permanent markets, so they were not attractive as places to live for people who worked in markets. Permanent markets were among the things that distinguished towns from villages. Some merchants spent a lot of their time travelling, but they had homes, and usually also had shops and warehouses.

Why did Germanic peoples invade the Roman Empire?

Two primary reasons: 1. They were being pressed upon in the East by invading Asian nomads, the Huns being the most famous group. So they move to get away. 2. Rome was a very appealing place to live. The standard of living was much higher than the Germanic tribes had. A way of thinking about this is how the United States is attractive to immigrants from other countries today, principally the nations to our south. Actually they invaded the roman empire because they wanted a warmer climate to live and they also wanted better grazing land for their cattle
