to navigate where people were supposed to do there work and they were also good and respected the gods so they will learn how to do as they wish and get what they want or what ever they want so that is what i am thinking is that they should not prevent the people from simply ignoring the church and doing as they want and they can do as they wish and will do what ever a lord tell a serfs what to do plus they can not go some where without a lords permissions. that is why i feel bad for people

What Christian Church did most people belong to in the Middle Ages?

The most important Church of the Middle Ages was the Catholic Church. When it split in 1054, it became the Roman Catholic Church in the West and the Eastern Orthodox Church in the East. There were always other Churches. The Celtic Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches were very early and all predated the Middle Ages. The Celtic Christian Church was absorbed by the Catholic Church, but the others continue. There were also heterodox organizations outside orthodox Christianity, and some of these were declared heretical, in some cases resulting in military operations.

Who was in charge during the middle ages?

That was one of the main problems. When Rome fell in 410AD that left avacuum for government and services. The society finally came down to three "estates". These were the church, the nobility, and the merchant class. The leading estate was the church. The priests and church set the rules for all of the society. The people of this time were told that they were born in sin and had to repent their entire life to get into heaven. To do this they must do what the church told them to do because the church was how people communicated with God. It was through the church that God gave them directions and rules to follow. This was easy for the church to do since no one could read the bible so they depended on the church to tell them the stories from the bible. One way they did this was with the stories in the stain glass windows and the passion plays. Needless to say, when the printing press was invented the church tried to keep people from reading the bible because they knew that they would loose control and that is exactly what happened. The church was also able to tell the nobility what to do for the same reasons, so everyone fell in line with the churches teaching and they were able to control the society.
