The medieval manor was a home to some lord, who might have lived there.
It was also home to whatever servants and permanent guests the lord might have had there. The servants might have included a steward and household servants, and some of these might have lived in the manor house itself. Also on the manor were a number of people who were laborers, and these would have included tenant farmers and serfs, along with anyone else who might do labor, such as a miller, for example.
The lord and lady of the area lived in a Manor. A manor was like a stately home with servants and often a hunting ground for the lord. A king would not live in a manor but in a castle ,though, Charles the 1st who was being hunted down to be executed was forced to. a Manor would have all the rooms a castle would have but smaller so this was a good way off for the lord and lady.
APEX: Peasants lived in a village outside of the castle.
All manors had peasants, and most peasants were serfs. The peasants were farm workers, but might also serve as foresters, or in other capacities.
Other people who lived on manors were non-agricultural workers possibly including a blacksmith, a miller, and a baker. Depending on the nature of the manor, it might have potters, carpenters, weavers, and spinsters.
A manor had officers, the head of whom was the reeve, who organized the common work and lands of the peasants. Other officers did such things as tend the fences and oversee care of animals.
A manor had a manor house, and the manor house had a household staff of servants. They included cooks, maids, butlers, and others. They might include a troubadour or jester, if the lord of the manor lived there and was willing to pay for such entertainment.
Manors that had churches on them, as many did, had priests to hold services.
Many manors were functionally operated by a steward, who lived on the manor.
Some manors had their lords and the lords' families living on them. Since many lords had more than one manor, there were a lot of manors whose lords normally lived elsewhere. Since the primary use of the manor house was to be the home of the lord, it always had an area reserved for the lord's living quarters.
