HUAC, the House Un-american Activities Committee, was supposed to protect America from subversion. In practice, it conducted ill-conceived witch-hunts and accomplished nothing useful.
America and several coalition forces like Britain didnt approve of the Russians spreading Communism. Back then, France owned the southern half of Vietnam and the northern half was Communist. When the north invaded the south America joined the war to try to stop Vietnam from becoming an all Communist country. As we now know today that didn't work out and Vietnam along with it's communist fighters, the Viet Kong took control of Vietnam.
yes... John Foster Dulles came up with the domino theory which basically said that if one country fell to communism then the countries next to that would fall, and so on. America was worried that if the countries in southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, fell to communism then they would too. (However, china had fallen to communism but it hadn't affected any of its neighbours so this was a flaw in the theory). Also, America didn't want southeast Asia to become communist because they needed to still have access to the raw materials and markets there, but they wouldn't be able to if the area became communist.
In the 1950s, Communism was perceived as a significant threat to America primarily due to the Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, which fueled fears of a global spread of communist ideology. Additionally, the rise of communist movements in several countries and the successful establishment of a communist government in China heightened domestic concerns about potential subversion and espionage within the U.S., leading to widespread paranoia and the Red Scare.

What was the reaction in America to the Communist takeover if China?
During the Red Scare, America primarily feared communists and socialist movements, particularly those influenced by the Soviet Union. This fear was fueled by events such as the Russian Revolution and the rise of communist parties in various countries. Additionally, there was concern about domestic subversion, leading to widespread suspicion of leftist individuals and organizations, culminating in events like the Palmer Raids. The fear often manifested in paranoia and violations of civil liberties as the government sought to root out perceived threats to national security.
Communist Labor Party of America was created in 1919.
The Red Scare in America was primarily sparked by the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, which led to fears of communist influence and revolution spreading to the United States. The subsequent labor strikes and anarchist bombings in the early 1920s heightened public anxiety about radicalism and the potential for subversion. Additionally, the establishment of the Soviet Union and the rise of socialist movements contributed to a pervasive sense of paranoia about internal threats to American democracy and capitalism. This culminated in widespread government actions, including the Palmer Raids, aimed at suppressing perceived communist sympathizers.
