On the old Montgomery GI Bill, the limit is 10 years after your last day in service. On the new Post 9/11 GI Bill, the limit is 15 years. You can request to change from the Montgomery to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, and the limit will change to 15 years. There are advantages to both systems however, depending on your situation.
