The exact number of members of the Hitler Youth organization varies, depending on the source. However many sources agree that there were at least 2,300,000 members in 1933. By 1936 there were more than five million members, and by 1940 there were more than 8 million members. The members were children as young as 10 up to teenagers, almost all of Germany's teenagers being members.

In Nazi Germany, pretty much all German children had to be apart of the Hitler youth. It was compulsory. The Hitler Youth was for children from the ages of 13-18 but ONLY for German children (obviously). You didn't have to believe in Nazi views, but as a youth you had to join it. If not you was considered a 'sinner'.

Hope this helped you!
