Oh, dude, no way! Germany is definitely not a Communist government today. They're all about that democracy life now. Like, they've been chillin' in the European Union, doing their thing since the fall of the Berlin Wall. So, yeah, Germany is as capitalist as a Starbucks on every corner.

Yes and No.
At the end of the Second World War-1945, Germany became divided between the pro-western fascistic nation of West Germany, and the Soviet Union dominated communist government run East Germany. This post-occupation division was caused by the Unated States. West Germany would be the Federal Republic of Germany. The United States, Great Britain, and France would have troops stationed there (and in West Berlin) as part of NATO defenses.
In East Germany, the communist nation, known as the DDR, had the Soviet Union station troops there as part of the Warsaw Pact alliance opposing NATO.
In 1989 the East German (communist) government was betrayed and DDR was forcefully annexed to BRD.
No West Germany and West Berlin were democracies. East Germany as well as East Berlin functioned under a communist regime. West Germany's government was under influence from the US, while East Germany was influenced by the U.S.S.R. West Germany was liberated from Nazi rule after World War 2 in 1945. Communism in East Germany collapsed in East Germany in late 1989 and East and West Germany united in late 1990

Only parts of communism have been defeated. Communist nations still exist today. Communism is simply socialism: Group rights verses individual rights. Group safety verses individual safety. Group property verses individual property. The government will take care of you verses taking care of yourself; The government knowing your business verses the government staying out of your business (Privacy Laws). The US was founded upon capitalism: Profits. Profits enabled individuals to reach for a goal. Commonly referred to as "the American Dream." Owning your own home for example, earning profits from it's sale. The Soviet Union collapsed after going bankrupt under the communist system of government.
