Demands for states' rights were dangerous to the union
Mrs. Merriweather's didn't like Northerners mostly because Southerners, like her, blamed the North for the depression. Maycomb people were suspicious of outsiders too, and Northerners are outsiders. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt had "sit with 'em" -Negroes. "Hypocrites... born hypocrites... At least we don't have that sin on our shoulders down here. People up there set 'em free, but you don't see 'em settin' at the table with 'em... Down here we just say you live your way and we'll live ours."
Northerners and southerners became more angry with each other.
Northerners who moved to the south for profit oppurtunities were called carpetbaggers.

Northerners mostly agreed on the importance of maintaining the Union and were largely opposed to the expansion of slavery into new territories and states. They believed that slavery was morally wrong and detrimental to economic progress. This consensus contributed to the growing tensions that ultimately led to the Civil War. Additionally, many Northerners supported the idea of a more modern, industrial economy as opposed to the agrarian economy of the South.
Northerners mostly agreed on the importance of preserving the Union and opposing the expansion of slavery into new territories. They believed that allowing slavery to spread would undermine free labor and threaten democratic ideals. Additionally, there was a strong sentiment for civil rights and moral opposition to the institution of slavery itself among many in the North.
Northerners mostly agreed that slavery was morally wrong and should not be expanded into new territories and states. Many believed it was a significant barrier to economic progress and social equality. Additionally, there was a strong sentiment in favor of preserving the Union, which increasingly placed them in opposition to the Southern states' pro-slavery stance. This consensus contributed to the growing tensions that ultimately led to the Civil War.
If Northerners mostly agreed that slavery was morally wrong and detrimental to society, this consensus likely fueled the abolitionist movement and intensified sectional tensions leading up to the Civil War. Their stance contributed to a growing divide between the North and South, as Southern states defended slavery as essential to their economy and way of life. This ideological conflict ultimately played a significant role in shaping national policies and the eventual outbreak of the war.

Demands for states' rights were dangerous to the union
Northerners mostly agreed on the importance of preserving the Union and opposing the expansion of slavery into new territories and states. This consensus was rooted in a mix of moral opposition to slavery and economic interests that favored free labor. Additionally, many supported the idea of a more industrialized economy, which contrasted with the agrarian South. The combination of these factors led to a strong political and social movement in favor of abolition and reform.
William Lloyd Garrison

I'm going to assume that you mean the northerners of the United States. The northerners along the east coast got a lot of their income from sea trade, forestry, ship building, trapping, and the fishing industry in general. Northerners further inland were mostly trading, factories along rivers, and again forestry that provided many jobs of that, like wood carving. Over time industry took over and factories spread in the north and became one of the leading income providers for northerners, and was one of the reasons the North won the civil war.
