African Americans used many different strategies to gain equal rights during World War II. Specifically, Black leaders forced Roosevelt into doing something about the discrimination the military men were experiencing. So, the President created the Fair Employment Practices Commission. It was a council set up to deal with claims of discrimination by any minority working in the War.
